Yaşamı ve kariteri

Smirth, 7 Ağustos 1958'de Kaitaia, Yeni Zelanda'da doğdu. 1985'te başladığı oyunculuk kariyerini 2022 yılındaki ölümüne kadar sürdürdü. En çok rol aldığı; Once Were Warriors, The Quiet Earth ve The Piano gibi yapımlarla akıllarda kaldı. Yer aldığı diğer bazı yapımlar arasında; The Gospel according to Taane, The Maori Merchant of Venice, Te Whai Ao, What Becomes of the Broken Hearted, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, E Tipu E Rea, Marlin Bay, Plainclothes, Shortland Street, Greenstone ve Mataku sayılabilir.¹ .

Smith, ilk filmi GOFTA Ödüllü 1985 yapımı bilimkurgu türündeki The Quiet Earth 'de Dünya'da kalan son insanlardan birisini canlandırıyordu.

Özel yaşamı ve ölümü

Smith, 29 Ocak 2022'de doğum yeri Kaitaia, Yeni Zelanda'da böbrek yetmezliği nedeniyle 63 yaşında öldü.²

Ödülleri

Smith, 1987 Yeni Zelanda yapımı drama türünde uzun metrajlı sinema filmi Flight of the Albatross ile "En İyi Erkek Oyuncu" ödülünü kazandı.

2006 yılında The Market adlı yapımdaki oyunculuğu ile "En İyi Yardımcı Erkek Oyuncu" dalında Yeni Zelanda film ve televizyon ödülü'nü aldı.³
